The Town Clerk and Tax collector is an elected position in the Town of Newark Valley. The duties of these positions are separate, but performed by the same person or the deputy.

As town clerk, the following types of jobs are performed:

The duties of the tax collector relate to the management and collection of the town and county tax bills each year. The calendar of events is generally the same:

Residents with unpaid tax bills after May 31st must contact the county treasurer's at (607) 687-8670 office to resolve town and county tax issues.

The tax collector collects the taxes..... The assessor and the board of assessment review are responsible for the valuation of the property.



DOG LICENSES
New York State requires you to license your dog(s). If you own a dog and live in Newark Valley,
your dog must have a license.


If applying by mail, you will need:
-A current Rabies Certificate (all the required information about the dog and you are on the
Rabies Certificate)
-A spayed or neutered certificate, if it applies
-A check or money order made out to the Newark Valley Town Clerk in the amount of $10.00 for
a spayed or neutered dog or $20.00 for an unspayed or unneutered dog

We will mail back all originals, the license and license tag.


If applying in person, you will need
-a current Rabies Certificate (all the required information about the dog and you are on the
Rabies Certificate)
-a spayed or neutered certificate, if it applies
-cash, check, or money order made out to the Newark Valley Town Clerk in the amount of
$10.00 for a spayed or neutered dog or $20.00 for an unspayed or unneutered dog


Please put the tag on the collar of your dog (highly recommended) and in case your dog is lost, we
will be able to identify the owner of the animal easier.
Every year you need to renew the license. Please make sure you provide your current rabies
certificate, neutered certificate (if applicable) and sign the license. You can renew by mail. Send
everything in that is required, including your payment and we will send your license and certificates
back to you.

We can no longer issue kennel licenses.
