  The Town of Newark Valley's Assessor's office is run by the Sole Appointed Assessor, Terie W Huseby. The assessor is responsible for creating the town's annual assessment roll. This involves the valuing of real property, the administration of exemptions and various other clerical aspects necessary to maintain the assessment roll.

• Key Dates to Remember:

  • March 1st is taxable status date. Exemption applications are due by this date every year. Also, new construction receives a level of completion as of this date. This means that if you have a new house and it is only half way done on March 1st it will receive half of its total assessment that year and then be updated the next.
  • May 1st is the publication of the tentative assessment roll. You are encouraged to view the tentative roll to ensure your property is listed correctly
  • Grievance day is the fourth Tuesday of May. The Town of Newark Valley holds grievance day the fourth Tuesday of May from 4pm to 8pm every year.
  • July 1st is the publication of the final roll. After this date the assessments are set for the following September school tax bills and January town and county bills.

  The final roll is available for review at the town hall during normal business hours and is posted on the Tioga County Website at: www.tiogacountyny.com
